Ishavasya Gurukulam
Ishavasya Gurukulam, founded by Acharya Dr. Neelima Deshpande, has been a pillar of Kathak education for over 29 years, nurturing 800+ students from India and abroad. The Gurukulam combines technical mastery, theoretical depth, and spirituality to create holistic dancers and individuals. Committed to social impact, its students perform at NGOs, old age homes, and community platforms while fostering global cultural exchange. Renowned for excellence, it has earned accolades in national and international competitions.

Residential Gurukulam
Ishavasya Gurukulam, located in Pune, Maharashtra, is the first residential Kathak dance gurukul in India. Established with the aim of preserving and nurturing the traditional Indian dance form of Kathak, this gurukul draws inspiration from the “Isha Upanishad,” a scripture from the Kanva branch of the Shukla Yajurveda, which inspired its name.
On May 2, 2023, during a program named “Pran,” Acharya Dr Neelima Deshpande officially renamed her institution, Nilima Productions, as Ishavasya Gurukulam.
From its beginnings as Nilima Nrityalaya to Nilima Productions and now its evolved form as Ishavasya Gurukulam, this institution represents a relentless 29-year-long dedication to Kathak. It is the first gurukul in the world to be honored by both the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records.
The residential operations of this gurukul commenced on July 6, 2024, in its newly established premises, and the fully residential gurukul began functioning from 2025 onwards.
